Things to do on Father's Day
There are lots of fun things to do on Father’s Day to celebrate Dad and show appreciation for all he does throughout the year. Plan to partake in one of Dad’s favorite activities that incorporates all the kids, regardless of age.
Father's Day ideas for any lucky Dad:
- Lunch or Dinner Out: Make reservations in advance and take Dad to his favorite restaurant for lunch or dinner. Make your final destination a surprise, blindfold Dad and have him guess where you're going. Keep going with surprises and ask friends and family members to meet at the restaurant. Once everyone is seated, order Dad’s favorite appetizer at the restaurant. End the meal with a yummy dessert or ice cream that Dad rarely lets himself have.
- Day Trip: Plan a day trip to Dad's favorite destination and spend the day together as a family. Make sure the entire day is as relaxing as possible and plan everything ahead of time. Pack a cooler with drinks and snacks and load the CD player with Dad's favorite music. Give the kids plenty of things to do in the car and try to engage everyone in car games like kid-friendly trivia or 'I Spy.'
- Fishing Trip: A great way to spend the day outside doing something fun is to take a fishing trip. Make the day kid- friendly by bringing fishing rods designed specifically for children. Take a break to enjoy a picnic lunch with a variety of sandwiches, Dad's favorite pasta salad, chips, fruit and a special dessert. Surprise Dad during the trip by giving him a Father’s Day present that he can use while fishing, like a new fishing rod!
- Sports Event: Take Dad to see his favorite team play! Purchase tickets in advance of the game and surprise Dad on Father’s Day with a card with the tickets inside. Buy him a shirt to wear to the game as the second part of his present. While there, treat Dad to snacks, drinks and hot dogs galore.
- Send Father's Day eCards: Gather the kiddos and spend time as a family personalizing thoughtful digital greeting cards for all the other dads in your life. Ask the kids to brainstorm who they know and love that is a dad: grandpa, uncle, friends, and more!
Dads deserve a little R&R every once in a while too, so there probably wouldn't be any complaints if he woke up to breakfast in bed or got to spend the afternoon golfing. Make the day all about him and you'll get enough "thank you's" to last the rest of the year!
